Green Washing~What is it?
So, you are doing all that you know how to do to keep yourself and your loved ones healthy. You, like the rest of us, have been depending on the USDA to safe guard and protect the food sources for the country's people. You are looking for the healthy alternatives and have made changes to Organics and "All Natural" products wherever you can. One snafu here is that the huge corporations have found ways around the regulations through massive donations to politicians and loop holes in the regulations designed to keep us safe.
One of the newest deceptions is through the use of "Green Washing" This is where companies use words such as "Healthy", "Natural" or even "Organic" to get you to purchase their products. These companies are very often the ones we are working to avoid as we attempt to become more health conscious. Recognizing this trend, the big corporations such as Kraft, Pepsi, Kelloggs and the like have quietly gobbled up small organic companies to improve their market share. What is wrong with this picture is that these companies then dilute the product and create a less expensive version using GMO's, chemicals and other fillers creating an unhealthy product but advertising it as healthy plus raise the price to boot! Since the original brand was known and trusted by consumers, they continue to purchase it not being aware of the change in ownership and integrity. For the general public, eating well and in a healthy manner is a growing concern. We look for labels to help us make the proper decisions for our families. One of the most popular food groups is cereals. In my opinion, our bodies are mostly unprepared to digest and utilize grains thus a growing movement away from glutens (grains) but never the less, this is a huge staple in our diets as a whole. With the health movement have grown concerns about the healthiness of cereals. Manufacturers have listened and taken action to win over your hard earned dollars to their brands. They have also pulled out all the stops by using "vague" wording to promote their cereals. These "All Natural" items can have as much as 100% GMOs, high levels of pesticides etc. Take a look at this: *Another report recently published by the Cornucopia Institute investigated "all natural" and organic cereal brands. Shockingly, their independent third-party testing revealed that many trusted natural brands contain genetically modified (GM) corn and soybeans—including brands enrolled in the Non-GMO Project.
These deceptions are across the board~food, water, building materials, electronics and beyond. See this chart on green washing: http://www.jewelinfo4u.com/blog/index.php/2011/11/13/green-marketing-exposed/

*Organics have Never Been Under Such Dire Threats!
As you will soon learn, organics are now being profoundly threatened by a number of potentially devastating votes that will take place by the USDA's National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), which I will summarize at the end of this article.
We're in dire need of your involvement, so I urge you to please print out the hyperlinked proxy letter and mail it to Cornucopia for hand delivery at the rapidly approaching NOSB meeting. Corporate lobbyists will be present, and so will the Cornucopia Institute, to counter their obnoxious claims and make sure your voice, in support of organic integrity, is heard. For more details on this meeting, please continue to the end. You'll no doubt be shocked, and hopefully resolved to help stop this impending madness.
Signed proxy letters should be mailed to:

The Cornucopia Institute is an organic industry watch dog. Their core constituencies are the family farmers across the U.S. Currently, Cornucopia has more organic farmers as members than any other group in the country, and what they lack in financial resources and political influence, they make up for with a coalition of dedicated farmers and passionate consumers and providers of organic foods.
"The secret weapon we have is building bridges between the organic farming community and the consumers… millions of people who passionately give a damn; who really care about the authenticity of the food and respect the people who are doing it," Kastel says.
"Our goal is to—from a research and educational perspective—empower consumers and wholesale buyers so that they can make good and discerning choices in the market place."
