Laughter is the Best Medicine~ Exploring Primary Foods

When we think of good health, the discussion in our brains is usually always centered around food and exercise.  This is certainly a wonderful place to start the cornerstones of health.  Eating whole foods full of vital nutrients and physical activity; some explosive and some gentle, assist our physical bodies to enjoy a healthy state.

Let's explore some other ideas about what brings about great health. These we will add to the first two and call them all Primary Foods.

The first one on my list is Love. I feel that this is one of the most important keys. LOVE!  Yes love...love all that you do.  Most importantly, love yourself. When you finally choose to love yourself, you will then understand how to love others.  If love is one of your vital corner stones, the rest falls into place.  I am certainly talking about the unconditional kind of love, in as much as we can experience it.  When we love, we raise our vibration or energy level.  Love creates a receptivity to the brighter side of life.  Love lifts the veil of darkness and allows us to walk into the place of joy, laughter, compassion and expansion.

Friends and family are the fibers that keep our lives healthy.  Having healthy and supportive relationships goes a long way to helping us create optimal health.  We no longer feel alone and that the deck is stacked against us.  We can rest in the shelter of someone else's love and take comfort there.  Relationships give us a mirror to see ourselves and the beauty we have as an individual.  The healthy banter of great realtionships keeps us joyful and light through laughter and comraderie. The healthy giving of self in these realtionships provides a nourishment for the soul that only such giving can do.

Finding one's personal life's work gives one tremendous satisfaction as well as relevence.  We all want to feel as though we are truly making some difference through the expression of who we are authentically.  Some might try to argue this and some may even claim that this is not a necessity in their lives but look closely because the proof is in the vitality, radiance and compassion of that person. If the person makes such a claim but their life is in turmoil ~even "unrelated" to their work, we then see the evidence clearly.  We are whole in our beingness, not separate parts as some have come to believe.  Each facet of our life adds to the others or takes away from them.  Work is no different.  Those happy in their work accomplish far more and far greater things than those just going through the motions.

Healthy selfishness is another key to successful health.  It is the giving back to oneself in many different ways.  This can be setting healthy boundaries, taking time out for personal pleasures and hobbies; time alone or any other activity that tells ones self..."Hey there, I love you!"

A personal spiritual practice is key to our quest for great health as we are not simply physical bodies but also spiritual beings created in the likeness of God, if you will.  That means that we are not simply of flesh and blood.  When we talk of spiritual practice, this can take many forms.  Some feel closest to their creator in a house of worship, others find their bond in nature and still others find it through their music or art.  It is not important how your spiritual practice looks but only that you have one which lifts your soul to higher heights!

Laughter is another vital corner stone, in my book.  With laughter to lighten up the load, we can "see" more clearly.  We come out of the seriousness that keeps us locked up and embrace the endless possibliities of all that is.  Laughter causes us to lose the stronghold of judgement and open to the ideas that there is more to life than austerity and rigidity.  The very fact that in every country in the world, people laugh in a way That requires a translation is to me a tell tale sign of how very vital laughter is to humanity. When one truly lets go and laughs, there is nothing that can control that.  Thoughts go out the window and the whole being experiences joy.  Personally, I feel that this one emotion/action is what changes us psyiologically to enable healing on many levels.  It is a cleansing or detox of our bodily systems as well as our souls and emotions. Laughter realeases the tensions that we carry, which can ultimately lead to illness.  Thus the quote~ Laughter is the best medicine"

Take a moment to reflect on these and even re-visit these ideas.  Let me know what you think

All the Best~

Liza
